Ulster County Announces 2004 NACO Achievement Award Winners

Ulster County Legislative Chairman Richard A. Gerentine has announced that Ulster County is the recipient of three NACO Achievement Awards. The winning programs are "Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Services" and "Keeping Seniors in the Driver’s Seat," both submitted by the Office For the Aging. Ulster County Area Transit also received a NACO award for their program called "Transit Information Program for Students."

The National Association of Counties’ Achievement Award Program is a non-competitive program that recognizes counties for improving the management of and services provided by county government. Awards are made in more than 20 categories. All counties and state associations of counties are eligible to apply. The Achievement Award Program has honored hundreds of county government initiatives that have improved service delivery, achieved greater cost efficiency, provided finer customer service, and helped to develop a better-trained work force. In addition, the award winning programs have provided the National Association of Counties and its membership with an extensive database of successful county programs.

"I want to extend my congratulations to Kathryn Puglisi, Director and the staff at the Office For the Aging and Cynthia Ruiz, Director and the staff at Ulster County Area Transit for their continued efforts and dedication in creating programs that will be a great benefit to the residents of Ulster County," stated Chairman Gerentine.
