Ulster County Purchasing Department Announces: Regional Bid Notification System

The Counties of Ulster, Dutchess, Rockland, the City of New Rochelle, the Town of Cortland, and the Pearl River School District have joined forces in creating the Hudson Valley Municipal Purchasing Group (HVMPG) to establish a Regional Bid Notification Service and E-Procurement System to alert and notify businesses within the Hudson Valley of municipal contracting opportunities. Most bids posted will be individual municipal bids; some may be cooperative bids. Participating in the group is open to all municipalities, school districts and other government agencies within the Hudson Valley. Municipalities are encouraged to contact the Ulster County Purchasing Department to inquire about joining the system.

Businesses will now only have to visit a single web site of their choice to search for and download municipal bidding opportunities within the Hudson Valley. The system provides instant access to Bids, RFP’s, Quotes and Addenda online.

Immediate registration at www.co.ulster.ny.us/purchasing is encouraged. Members of the HVMPG will start posting bidding documents on the new system effective March 25, 2002.

Businesses will realize the following benefits from registering on the Regional Bid Notification System:

    • Single Point of Contact – Businesses should visit the Ulster County web site (www.co.ulster.ny.us/purchasing) to register, search for, and receive bid information from all the participating municipalities in the HVMP Group.

    • Free Access to Bid Notices – Registered businesses will have free access to the Hudson Valley Municipal Purchasing Group’s web site to search for posted bids from all the participating Hudson Valley municipalities. When you sign on, you get all the members.

    • Paid Service for Automatic Notification – Businesses that do not wish to search the Regional Bid Notification site on a regular basis can, for a small fee, register to be automatically notified via e-mail or fax, when a Bid, RFP, or RFQ is issued that matches their vendor profile. The Optional Paid service will also enable businesses to respond to RFQ’s (Quotes under the Bid Limit) electronically through the system.
